Beyond Generations: Challenging Misconceptions and Building Bridges with Eunice Lin Nichols, Manu Meel, and Bobby Duffy

Popular discourse suggests that here is an insurmountable and unprecedented intergenerational divide. Young people are often assumed to be at the forefront of the fight for progressive causes while elders in the movement are assumed to be at the back. However, evidence suggests that this is a misleading narrative when it comes to issues such as rising authoritarian populism and tackling the climate crisis.

Join the Democracy & Belonging Forum on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 (8:00 AM - 9:00 AM PST / 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM) CET for our next event in the ongoing series (Un)Common Threads, where we'll explore the myths and realities of the intergenerational divide with civic leaders from Europe and the US. They'll discuss lessons learned through research and on the ground: What is accurate and what are misconceptions of how we understand different generations? Can we really speak of “generations”? How critical is it that older generations understand younger generations, and the other way around? And how do we build these bridges?

Join Eunice Lin Nichols, Co-CEO of CoGenerate and with more than two decades bringing older and younger generations together to bridge divides and solve problems, Bobby Duffy, Professor of Public Policy and Director of the Policy Institute at King's College and author of Generations - Does when you're born shape who you are?, and Manu Meel, CEO of BridgeUSA and a social entrepreneur passionate about empowering young people.
