The Democracy & Belonging Forum's Network Catalyzers Program supports selected Forum members in launching and growing their own virtual, hybrid, or in-person communities related to othering, belonging, bridging, and democracy. These communities are entirely member-run, but are in part resourced, promoted, and supported by the Forum. Building on the inaugural 2025 cohort, the 2026 program brings a sharper focus: supporting regionally grounded communities that can activate and deepen Forum membership where our members are.
This year's cohort reflects the breadth and urgency of democracy and belonging work across the US, France, Germany, and Central and Eastern Europe. Selected communities are exploring reparative democracy and civic trust-building among practitioners in the US Midwest; place-based bridging for civic leaders in Texas borderland communities; rural depolarization and cross-class dialogue in France; youth-led bridging across migration and racial lines in Germany; sustaining democratic practice and civic resilience among practitioners in Central and Eastern Europe; and intercultural civic participation bridging migrant and Czech-born residents in Prague.
As part of the yearlong program, selected catalyzers receive support and resources tailored to their community-building needs, including:
Monthly Catalyzer Council sessions for training, peer learning, and exchange with fellow community catalyzers
Regular one-on-one meetings and thought partnership with the Forum's Head of Community
Mentorship from experienced community builders, including catalyzers from the 2025 cohort
Communications and promotional support from the Forum team
An honorarium of 2,500 EUR net for the duration of the 12-month program, plus the opportunity to apply for up to 1,500 EUR in supplemental funding to support in-person gatherings

Naya Díaz is a cultural strategist, narrative practitioner, and nonprofit leader based in Texas whose work explores how stories shape belonging, civic life, and democratic possibility. She currently serves as a national Member Services Director at YWCA USA, where she supports leaders across the country in navigating governance, organizational strategy, and systems change. Naya’s approach is influenced by thinkers such as Gloria Anzaldúa and traditions of storytelling, ecological wisdom, and mythopoetics. Across Central and South Texas, she is interested in creating spaces where cultural workers, organizers, educators, and civic leaders can reflect on the stories shaping our institutions and communities—and explore how new narratives of belonging might emerge.
